Many of you may have heard the news that Windows 11 has been released to the public for insider beta testing. I would like to stress that this is early the product beta cycle and is not meant to be run in production environments or even on a daily basis. However, it does have bugs, is prone to data loss, crashes, and will lead to frustration.
If you have a test computer that is not used in production environments, the data on the computer is not needed, and you wish to experiment with Windows 11, please go ahead and do so on your own time. You should also be prepared to completely erase the hard drive and reinstall itself as errors and workarounds are discovered as part of the beta testing process at some point in your testing process. Many of these updates/upgrades come without warning and may cause spontaneous reboots and data loss.
I urge you to please wait until Windows 11 is out of its beta phase before installing it. At Where To Start, we have no intention of supporting computers with Windows 11 installed until Microsoft has released production-ready code sometime late in the fall of 2021. Our upgrade process (assuming your hardware will support it) will be outlined at that time. If you proceed with a Windows 11 install before that, your only support option from Where To Start will be a complete reinstall of Windows 10 and applications at our regular time & materials rates. This also includes any damage to other computers, networks, and or data caused by Windows 11.

At Where To Start, we are watching the progress of Windows 11 very carefully will advise you when we believe it is ready for your environment and your applications with the support it. Windows 11 will be the go-to and foundational operating system for many businesses within a few years, and we are looking forward to supporting it when it is ready.
